A Blue Hills, Providenciales teenage male has been granted $5000 bail after being charged with multiple motor vehicle offences. 

Given that the accused is a minor, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force cannot name nor release his photograph. 

The 16-year-old was charged on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, with the following offences: ∙ One Count – Taking a motor vehicle without authority,  

∙ One Count – Assault occasioning actual bodily harm,  

∙ One Count- Malicious damage to property,  

∙ One Count – Driving without insurance, and  

∙ One Count – Driving a motor vehicle without a Turks and Caicos Islands driver’s license.  

The charges stemmed from an incident in Blue Hills on August 26, 2024. The accused is expected to appear before a Magistrate on September 23.  

Additionally, on August 31, 2024, in an unrelated incident, two males, aged 23 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of two counts of theft.  

These arrests followed a report lodged on Friday, August 23, 2024, and Friday, August 30, 2024.  The suspects are each on $2000 bail. 

Superintendent (Division B and Community Policing) Dwight Gardiner urges motorists to be aware of the dangers of leaving their vehicles idling. 

“Leaving a motor vehicle unattended with the engine running is an offence which carries a $200  fine. Turning off engines when parked and not leaving valuables within eyesight can significantly deter thieves.  

The RTCIPF asks the public to notify the closest police station, contact 911, the Serious Crime  Unit at 231-1842, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, and anonymously give any information on illegal activity. Additionally, persons are encouraged to download the Crime Stoppers P3 app and share information.
