The Executive Team of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) is unveiling a  Strategic Policing Plan which lays out a comprehensive framework to enhance service delivery.  

Commissioner of Police Trevor Botting said The RTCIPF 2021-2024 Strategic Policing Plan is aimed at setting a new benchmark for the Force and by enhancing the Force’s capacity development it will be able to create a safer and more secure environment for all residents and visitors to the  Territory.  

The 2021-2024 Policing Strategic Plan is anchored on the core values of integrity, accountability in addition to its objectives which are to reduce crime and the fear of crime, work in collaboration with the community, protect the borders from local and transnational crime, investing in staff,  performance management and optimizing technology.  

“The next three years will mark exciting times for us as captured in detail in this strategic plan. All aimed at nurturing the professional development of our men and women. The five Strategic  Objectives of the Strategic Policing Plan will underpin all we do in achieving our Vision.  Delivering plans and key performance indicators will support this plan, and the objectives and these indicators will measure our success over the three years. The Force is developing its capability and capacity, so whilst the plan spans three years, the Force Executive will review it annually to ensure it remains current and reflective of the Islands’ policing needs”, says Trevor  Botting, Commissioner of Police. 

In year one, the 2021-2024 Policing Strategic Plan outlines that a Witness programme be developed and implemented, investigative capability will be developed, Crime the recording standards reviewed, build capacity and capability of the Tactical Unit, enhance community policing and extend community policing plan across the Country. 

Year one also will see the re-establishment of the Grand Turk Marine Base, while reviewing  resources and training for the Marine Branch Unit, work in collaboration and support the  Immigration Control Strategy. 

As it relates to people development, in Year one of the 2021-2024 Policing Strategic Plan, a staff  development plan will be delivered, Human Resource and Training Department will be enhanced,  the development of a Force Succession Plan and the introduction of a Women in Policing  Association.  

An information technology strategy is also expected in year 1 which will include the  implementation of a digital command and control system.
