The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force Community Policing Unit is hosting a Crime Prevention Seminar for local businesses intending to improve partnerships, improve Business Crime Intelligence and provide businesses with the assistance to protect themselves from crime.
The one–day seminar is scheduled for Monday, November 22nd, 2021, from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., in the Hospitality Lounge at the Sands at Grace Bay.
Participants will be exposed to reporting crimes to 911, the types of crime reports that should be reported and how those reports are prioritized. In addition, participants will see presentations on situational awareness and how to minimize risks of being a victim of crime when entering and exiting the business establishment.
Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED)- how changing simple elements around the business establishment can deter or reduce crime, De-escalation- dealing with the problematic customer, Employee theft and fraud, and the appropriate security systems for the business will also be discussed.
Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Darron Williams said, “This is a step closer in building synergy with the various businesses on the Island on Providenciales. We want these business owners to be steps ahead of these criminals by using the knowledge presented to protect their businesses and patrons. I am happy to support this significant venture facilitated by our Community Policing Unit, and I encourage all business owners to take advantage of this opportunity. We intend to introduce this program across the Turks and Caicos Islands in the near future”.
