The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force have commenced traffic operations island-wide, to ensure motorists are obeying the law.
On January 18th, RTCIPF officers from the Traffic Enforcement and Operational Response Units conducted roadblocks at 3 pm between Fuller Walkin Roundabout, Down Town and Suzie Turn Roundabout Leeward Highway, Providenciales.
Traffic Stop/Vehicle Checks: 105
Tickets Issued for Various Traffic Offences: 21
Tint Removal from Vehicles: 21
Warnings Issued of Intended Prosecution for unlicensed and uninsured vehicles: Two (2)
Commenting on the ongoing operations ag Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams said: “The RTCIPF has undertaken a zero-tolerance approach against traffic violators in a bid to ensure road safety for all. It is imperative that persons fully comply with road traffic regulations in order to avoid being fined. We encourage you to assist us in maintaining a safer roadway in the TCI through compliance.
Motorists can expect delays as we continue our enforcement efforts”.
Random stops and checks were also conducted along Airport Road, Providenciales on January 17th, resulting in a number of motorists being cautioned.
The RTCIPF wishes to remind motorists that vehicle windows must have the following minimum levels of visible light transmittance:
Front windscreen: Above 50 per cent
Each front window; Driver and Passenger side windows: Above 50 per cent;
Rear Windows and Windscreen: Above 30 per cent.
If your vehicle’s tint does not meet these requirements, then under the Road Traffic Ordinance you commit a traffic violation and must pay the following:
TWO HUNDRED and FIFTY DOLLARS (250.00) PER WINDOW
