An intelligence-led operation aimed at disrupting drug and human trafficking, prostitution and illegal firearms was conducted at a business place off South Dock Road, Providenciales, yesterday (October 03) evening.

Shortly before 11 pm, officers from various units within the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands  Police Force descended upon the establishment. Following searches, officers seized two illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition.

Two male security guards remain in custody as investigations continue.

Acting Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams said, “We anticipate that this recent firearms seizure will significantly reduce violent crimes, particularly homicides and burglaries committed with firearms. I want to extend my deepest gratitude and commendation to the officers involved in this operation. Your bravery and commitment to placing yourselves in harm’s way, all in the service of keeping the Turks and Caicos Islands safe, are deeply appreciated. This is the third illegal firearm found within 24 hours.

“I also wish to thank the public, particularly those who have come forward with information.  Your vigilance in seeing something and saying something plays a critical role in our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of our communities.

“Rest assured, we will maintain our unwavering determination to seize illegal firearms and  relentlessly pursue those who choose to engage in criminal activity.”
