Who We Are
The Criminal Investigations Department handles investigations based on their scope and complexity, which requires particular expertise.
The CID encompasses The Serious Crimes Unit (SCU). Other Departments which fall under the SCU
are: Anti-Gang and Crime Unit, Safeguarding and Public Protection Unit, The Forensic Support Unit, the Financial Crime Unit, and the Digital Forensic Unit.
What we do
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Undertake the crime investigation, including offender investigation, preparation and submission of evidential files and case papers completed to the highest professional standards and within set time limits—appearance at court as necessary.
- Remain fully informed of current trends and patterns of all crimes within the division and elsewhere regarding significant crime.
- Evaluate, disseminate and act upon intelligence information.
- To attend to reported crime incidents and act as liaison and support officer for victims and witnesses of crimes being investigated. Offer crime reduction advice and ensure awareness of the investigation and prosecution process.
