Mr Harvey who currently holds the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police has just of over 30 years of service within the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) and spent the last nine years as head of the National Crime Intelligence Bureau.
In congratulating Mr Harvey, Commissioner Botting said, “Mr Harvey has worked across a range of challenging portfolios and has the wealth of experience to move up to the rank of Superintendent. This represents a tremendous moment in the Turks and Caicos Islands when Turks and Caicos Islanders are promoted to senior roles within the Force. Harvey has demonstrated the temperament, demeanour, and wisdom necessary to face the challenges in policing today. On behalf of the entire Force and Executive members, I congratulate him on this significant achievement and wish him the best for the future.”
After official training at the Barbados Regional Police Training Centre, Harvey joined the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force on February 12th, 1990. He spent the beginning of this new journey on Providenciales as a Police Constable as a Beat and Patrol officer, after which he joined the first Drug Squad Unit for almost two years. Harvey was then transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department where he served as a detective for three years. Harvey moved up the rank to Sergeant in 2003 in the Traffic Unit. He later worked in the first Anti-Robbery Task Force then onto the Joint Intelligent Unit now the National Crime Intelligence Bureau where he was promoted to Inspector of Police. On August 1st 2017, Harvey was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Speaking on the promotion, Mr Harvey said, “I am humbled and honoured to serve as Superintendent of Police within the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force. I thank Commissioner Botting and the Executive team for their faith in me to lead in this role. I pledge to serve with the dignity and honour befitting the high standards of the Force as we remain steadfast in our mission of service to all citizens, residents and visitors to the Turks and Caicos Islands and continue on our course of community collaboration and progressive policing.”
Assistant Superintendent Willet Harvey will be confirmed to the Post of Superintendent on September 1st, 2020.
