History has been created within the ranks of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force following the certification of two female officers who are now Drill Instructors.
Sergeants Sherina Lightbourne and Laura-Lee Jagroop returned to the Turks and Caicos Islands on October 16, 2022, having successfully completed a rigorous five week course at the Barbados Coast Guard Ship Pelican.
The Course comprised of 35 participants from the Barbados Defence Force (Regiment and Coast Guard), The Barbados Police Service, The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force, The Royal St. Lucia Police Force and the RTCIPF.
Some of the training received included Drills in the field of foot, rifle, sword and colours and pace stick. The officers also learned planning procedures for events such as ceremonial parades, military funerals and were involved in several simulation exercises.
This was the first time that the RTCIPF was represented at such a course and both Officers are proud of their achievements and newly acquired skills which will be utilised within the Force.
Well done ladies!
