Deputy Commissioner – Rodney Adams

Rodney Adams, a native of the Turks and Caicos Islands, was appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police effective 1st April 2021 having previously served as Assistant Commissioner of Police heading various portfolios since 2007. He has served in the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force in several other capacities for over 35 years.

He has served as an Executive Manager for over thirteen years and has on many occasions served as Acting Deputy Commissioner and Acting Commissioner of Police.

He has a strong background in developing progressive crime reduction strategies, for example, the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Business case in 2015, leading to the introduction of CCTV technology to the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2018.

Deputy Adams holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Criminal Justice and Police Management from Leicester University. Additionally, he has a level seven Executive Diploma in Executive Strategic Management from the Chartered Management Institute United Kingdom, where he is a Chartered Manager fellow.

He has led the operational arm of the Force with DDME on matters of disaster management over the years and is committed to building resilience in this area of work. Covid-19 has presented many new challenges globally, and he has led the Police Service operational response working with partners to address the pandemic effectively. 

He believes that a proactive approach in tackling crime, disorder and deviant behaviour is our best tool in effectively policing the TCI, hence the need to apply a “PIER” concept.

He is currently a member of the following international organizations: National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and International Police Association Section UK (IPA).

Role of the Acting Commissioner of Police

The Police Commissioner is the Chief Executive Officer for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force and has strategic command, superintendence, direction and control of the Force and shall further be responsible to the Governor for the proper performance of his/ her duties and the proper expenditure and use of all public funds.
