Ten recruits have been sworn in as Police Officers in the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force during what is being described as a period of development transformation in the organization.
On Friday, July 23, 2021, at the Police Headquarters on Grand Turk and Providenciales, Commissioner of Police Trevor Botting swore in the recruits to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.
In welcoming the recruits, Commissioner of Police Trevor Botting said this is a proud day for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force as the organization continues to build human resources.
“Being formally sworn is a proud moment for every police officer. A career in policing is like no other. It is a career full of challenges, enjoyment, and incredible job satisfaction, and I’m proud to welcome these recruits as they pursue this career with us. There is much to learn, especially as public safety changes over time. I’m confident that each of them will bring valuable insight, experience and skills to our organization that will assist us in delivering on our priorities to protect and serve the communities in the Turks and Caicos Islands”, said Commissioner Botting.
In addressing the recruits, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rodney Adams reminded them of the importance of teamwork and service to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
“You’ve made the positive steps. Public service is a calling and not just a job, and it’s always necessary and very demanding. You must always maintain integrity as you serve the people of the Country. I want to thank you for your willingness to serve this community. Taking this step to serve is an honour. It is something we don’t take lightly in the RTCIPF”, Deputy Commissioner of Adams.
Also addressing the recruits was Assistant Commissioner of Police Kendall Grant, who said, “We are extremely proud and excited to grow the ranks of our police force. However, you must understand that building relationships with the community is critical in Policing in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Join us as we try to change the negative outlook on law enforcement. Be a positive influence to the residents you come in contact with; Do well and make us all proud”.
Recruit Constables Tlincha Garconville, Jumaine O. Jackson, Gassen Michel, Dacliche Clervil, Domereo Outten, Sashana Condace Carter, Mereasa Colahar, Dujuanna Fulford, Clinton Simmons, and District Constable Jean Mary will now embark on a detailed training programme within the Force ahead of training at the Police Training College later this year.
Divisional Commander Acting Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dwight Gardiner Police Welfare Chairlady, Tammika Lall-Williams, Training Manager Odessa Forbes and Human Resource Manager Rex Swann also attended.
